Hiatus, Week 2: Three Things I've Learned About Writing A Book
A behind-the-scenes peek at writing a non-fiction book
Hey friends,
Hope you’re having a lovely August. It’s been hot in Los Angeles, but today promises to not get above 89 degrees, so maybe it’s finally going to start cooling off around here.
Hiatus-to-write-the-book is going well. I’ve been making lots of progress. This week hasn’t been as fun as shopping for ~research~ was last week, but it’s been productive. I spent a day at the Los Angeles Public Library, which I’d never been to despite living in LA for nearly five years now. I used to love libraries, but after basically living in one during college, I stopped going for a while. After this week, I’m definitely going to pick back up my library habit.
Lately, I’ve realized that writing a book is so much more than just the actual writing of it. I mean, I knew that in theory, but the practice of it is surprising. Here are three things I’ve learned about the world of publishing so far:
